When you’re about to give a class presentation, go on a job interview, meet with a new client, or even embark on a first date, the last thing you need is for your clothes to start causing problems. However, these are exactly the situations when you’ll notice a deodorant stain, a ripped seam, or gum stuck to your pants—not the best first impression.
Don’t panic though! These are a few tricks to quickly solve the most common fashion emergency (all using items you have around the house or office) so you’ll never be caught unprepared again.
1. Sneaky Deodorant Marks
Have you noticed that you only get deodorant marks on the days when you really, really want to look good? Luckily, there are a few quick ways to get rid of these pesky white marks. Keep pair of spare pantyhose in your purse, stick your hand inside one of the legs and rub the nylon in small circles over the stain. The close-knit fibers will loosen up the deodorant until it’s not so noticeable.
But you can employ the same technique without pantyhose, too! Just use another part of your shirt to rub the offending mark. This should remove most of the deodorant streaks, and then you can wipe off any remaining residue with a little bit of water.
2. Exposed Bra Straps
Bras are finicky to say the least, and if your straps just won’t stay put, you may worry about one sliding down during your important presentation. However, you can put that worry to rest with a simple clothespin or paper clip. Use whichever you have handy to anchor the straps together between your shoulder blades, like they would appear on a racerback bra!
3. Slipping and Sliding Shoes
You don’t want to pull a Cinderella on your big day, but sometimes you just can’t help your feet from slipping out of pumps! The long-term fix is to invest in some heel grips, but in a bind, you can quickly solve this problem with hairspray. Just spray a little on the sole of your foot and slide your shoe on—the hairspray will make your foot sticky so it stays put!
No hairspray in sight? You can also try stuffing the toe of your shoe with tissues or even toilet paper to prevent your foot from sliding forward. (This only works with closed-toe shoes though.)
4. Gaping, Ripped Seams
Forget searching for a sewing kit! All you need to patch up a ripped seam is a little bit of tape. Poke the fabric to the inside of the garment and then pinch together the loose edges of fabric. Fold them into place, and then put a few pieces of tape over the rogue seam to hold the edges together (on the inside of your garment, of course). It’s a great short-term solution, and no one will be the wiser.
5. Gum on Clothes
In an ideal world, people wouldn’t leave fresh gum on chairs, subway poles, or anywhere you might accidentally brush against. But that’s never reality! (Use a trashcan, people!) So if you do happen to sit in gum, there are a few ways to speed up the removal process. Duct tape will often lift fresh goo, or you can spray the gum with hairspray so it gets hard and then can be scraped off. If you’re at home, you can also use rubbing alcohol to the same end.

What to Order
First and foremost, pick a meal that is made from real, whole foods and includes protein, healthy fat, and fiber. For lunch, try a salad with lots of greens, chickpeas, and salmon or roasted chicken. Also, steer clear of fried foods like French fries, mozzarella sticks, and tempura — frying foods promotes the production of free radicals, which can result in cell damage and be harmful to your health. I also generally recommend avoiding dairy and gluten as both can be inflammatory for many people.
Sneaky ways that you’re sabotaging your meal
One of the sneakiest ways that your meal can go downhill fast is that bread sitting on the table before your meal! If you fill up on bread, not only will you be full when your meal comes, but you also won’t get the nutrients that your body needs to function. And eating food like bread can lead to cravings for more bread or sugar later on — a double bombshell!
Alcohol can also sabotage your best intentions for eating healthy! Not only does it add a lot of empty calories to your meal, it may cause you to eat more food than your body needs or choose food that isn’t as healthy as you would normally eat. If you’re going to have alcohol with your meal, stick to one glass and make sure to drink plenty of water before, during, and after you have it.
While I recommend that most of the time you make healthier choices when eating out, I believe that allowing yourself the occasional indulgence is totally okay and part of having a balanced life! The key is to eat those treats in a healthy way. If you choose to indulge in that three-cheese lasagna or decadent chocolate cake, make a conscious decision to do so, eat only the amount of food that you’re actually physically hungry for, and leave the rest. Eat your meal without guilt or shame, and make sure that you enjoy every bite!
Aim to nourish your body with healthy, nutrient-rich whole foods most of the time, and make deviations the exception, not the rule. If you find that you eat food that doesn’t make you feel well or throws you off track, don’t beat yourself up. Remind yourself that it was just one meal and you can choose the food that works better for your body next time.

With a starting price of about Sh 102,000 ($999) many might be wondering what new features the new iPhone X will offer. It will be the most expensive phone the company has ever released to the market.
Apple chief executive Tim Cook announced during the Tuesday launch of the new iPhone X (pronounced as "ten" and not “X”) that the company has made "the biggest leap forward since the first iPhone".
Tim Cook said that the new iPhone "will set path for technology for the next decade". As many wait to see what the phone will offer compared to competition, here is what you should expect to get with the high price tag.
The new iPhone comes with a new design, an all glass design which apple describes as "the most durable glass ever in a smartphone". This means the front and back glass design is hard to break. The sides is made of surgical grade stainless steel and to top it all, the design is dust and water resistant.
No home button
Apple has done away with the home button which was in the previous iPhones in iPhone X. The front design is a 5.8 inches super retina screen from edge to edge with only a small sleeve at the top for camera.
Some features that were previously on the home button have been moved to the power button but most to the screen. According to the company, the screen display is 1125x2436 OLED making it the first iPhone with such a screen.
The iPhone X has facial recognition technology and now will enable users to unlock the device and applications using their faces. The company says the face recognition technology used in the design has the capability of adapting to facial changes overtime including aging.
The new Apple phone will have “a larger and faster dual 12-megapixel sensor” camera. The new camera has telephoto capabilities making it easy to take picture of objects that are far. Besides taking quality pictures, with the new iPhone one will be able to capture high resolution 4K videos.
Longer battery life and wireless charging
The new iPhone will have a longer battery life. Compared to the iPhone 7, apple says the new iPhone will have two hours more battery life. And just like iPhone 8, it will have a wireless charging based on the QI wireless technology.
iPhone X is a clear statement that Augmented Reality is the next big technology in the smartphone market. The AR features in the new phone will finally bring the technology to the masses. AR helps users superimpose digital information onto human's view of the real world. It is also important to note that the iPhone X unlike some previous models will only come in two colours: space grey and silver.
